Virtual Assessment
Video Calling and Conferencing has opened up many opportunities for people suffering with pain and disability to have their Physiotherapy needs met virtually. Virtual Physiotherapy is important for clients who are unable to leave the house for reasons including transport issues, self-isolation and patients in at-risk groups.

What does Virtual Physiotherapy involve?
We will send you a link to join a video call with one of our Specialist Physiotherapists where you will be assessed using a range of questions designed to understand more about your condition and how we can help You may be asked to perform a range of movements and observed via video link performing simple tasks and activities. This will help your physiotherapist get a good idea of the problem and formulate a treatment plan.
What problems can you treat with Virtual Physiotherapy?
Virtual Physiotherapy has been shown to help with a wide range of conditions including low back pain, hip bursitis, sprained ankle and many more.
Can you perform hands-on treatment with Virtual Physiotherapy?
Unfortunately, the magic of wi-fi doesn’t yet extend to hands-on treatment.
We may be able to advise you on the best self-treatment techniques to perform that would normally be performed by your physiotherapist in clinic such as soft tissue release and joint mobilisations.

Will I need to attend a Physiotherapy Appointment at the clinic?
Much of the work you will need to do to improve your problems will be done at home, with hard work on your part. Committing to a tailored exercise programme and performing it consistently is key to recovery.
Not all conditions are suitable for remote treatment:
- If you have a complex problem that needs further assessment
- If your problem isn’t progressing as we would expect with your self-management
- If you have areas of stiffness or inflammation that are not improving with your Virtual Physiotherapy Treatment Plan
- If you want to improve your recovery with treatments that we can’t offer with Virtual Physiotherapy
What physiotherapy treatments can you offer with Virtual Physiotherapy?
One of the most effective forms of evidence- based treatment that is exercise therapy.
We can advise the best exercises to perform for your condition and those to avoid.
Our exercise progression plans can be supported with exercise sheets for you to follow between sessions and if you’re not feeling the benefit from your exercises, we’ll adapt them to ensure you get the best outcome possible.
We use Clinical Pilates programmes, advice on a range of pain- relieving techniques that can work alongside medication including TENS machines, pain relief gels, chronic pain relief techniques, self-taping, soft tissue self-release and self-joint mobilisation.

What treatments will require me to attend a clinic appointment?

- Interferential Therapy
- Massage
- Joint Mobilisations
